My Story

Passion for Health and Fitness

My name is Sonia Flaherty, and I’m passionate about all things related to health and fitness. Growing up, food was the core of my life, the foundation of family gatherings, and cherished moments.

My family's focus on cooking and baking together was a mantra of sorts, creating a deep-rooted connection to food. I never counted calories or entertained diets until I turned 26. That's when my fitness journey began, thanks to my sister Demi. Her gift of a blank journal sparked a transformation in me. Motivated by a quote, “Get up every morning and tell yourself I can do this,” I embarked on a path to health and well-being. This journey has transformed my life, inspiring me to help others achieve their health goals.

After working with a personal trainer and seeing the positive changes in my own life, I was driven to share my newfound strength with others.

I was driven to share my newfound strength with others. The empowerment I felt fueled my desire to help other women achieve their health goals. I became a certified step instructor in 2001 and received my Can Fit Pro certification in 2002. Starting my professional career at a fitness center, I embraced my calling. In 2017, my husband and I moved to Dallas, Texas, a huge life adjustment that felt like starting over. Joining the local gym reignited my passion, and I continued to pursue fitness and education with renewed vigor. My move to Dallas marked a new chapter in my life, where I continued to grow both personally and professionally.

Educational Achievements and Expertise

My career began in Toronto, Canada, when I got certified as a personal trainer through Camp Fit Pro back in 2003. As the years went on in the fitness industry, I recognized the need for more education to better serve my clients, so I continually pursued courses to expand my knowledge.

In 2018, I enrolled with the International Sports Science Association, earning multiple certifications including Senior Fitness Coaching, Exercise Therapy, and Nutrition. I further advanced my expertise by becoming a Functional Nutrition Practitioner and a Health Coach. My certifications also include Specialist in Strength and Conditioning, Corrective Exercise Specialist, and Master Trainer Certification. Each step in my education has been

Holistic Approach to Wellness

Fitness has not only made me stronger physically but also emotionally resilient. Overcoming personal challenges and traumas, such as dealing with infertility, miscarriages menopause, and my mother’s current battle with bone cancer, has shaped me into the woman I am today. I believe in the holistic benefits of fitness, encompassing physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

My health and fitness journey has allowed me to heal and grow, and I am confident it can help others too. I genuinely want my clients to experience strength of body, empowerment of soul, and flexibility of thought, so that when life happens, they will have the resilience built for it. My goal is to provide a supportive, empowering environment where clients can achieve their fitness and wellness aspirations.
